Nurse Assistant Training

The Nurse Assistant course is intended to prepare you with the knowledge and skills to successfully perform nurse assisting functions in a long-term care environment. The course emphasizes the role and responsibilities of a nurse assistant as part of a health care team. Topics include the following:

  • Infection control
  • Personal care skills and procedures
  • Resident rights
  • Basic body mechanics
  • Nutrition
  • Emergency procedures

Additional topics include restorative services, observation and charting, and working with the cognitively impaired. Through supervised clinical experience, you will also have a chance to gain hands-on practice in the care of patients and residents.

Certification Exam Preparation

The course is designed to help eligible students qualify for the required state written and practical examination to become a certified nurse assistant.

Nurse Assistant is approved by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services and is designed to help eligible students qualify for the required state of Texas written and practical examination to become a certified nurse assistant. Certification costs are included in the cost of tuition.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a certificate of completion.
