Founded in 1990 in Laguna Hills, California, Brightwood College, Riverside campus was initially known as Computer Education Institute (CEI). CEI offered computer training programs and the Riverside campus, first located on Spruce Street, expanded the curricular offerings to include allied health. In April 2004, the College changed its name to Maric College.
By June 2006, the College curriculum focused on allied health and moved to its new facility downtown one month later. In March 2007, the College became a branch location of the Van Nuys campus and changed its name to Kaplan College in August 2008. In February 2016, the school became Brightwood College.
The Brightwood College Riverside campus is centrally located near several major freeways and public transportation.
