Respiratory Examination Review (Course)
Held on-site at Brightwood College, the Respiratory Examination Review short course is intended to provide students with the analytical thinking and test-taking skills required to pass the Entry-Level Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) examination, as well as the advanced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) examination.†
Both the CRT and RRT exams are administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Possessing CRT and/or RRT credentials may be required for your career path and signify to potential employers that you have industry-recognized knowledge and skills.
The respiratory care exam review course at Brightwood College is intended to help prepare students for industry-recognized exams. Instruction follows National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) guidelines and includes the following topics:
- Patient assessment and care management
- Infection control
- Pulmonary function testing
- Advanced cardiopulmonary
- Oxygen and medical therapy
- ABG analysis and monitoring
Additional instruction includes: hyperinflation, humidity and aerosol therapy, pharmacology, bronchopulmonary hygiene, cardiac monitoring, suctioning, IPPB, mechanical ventilation, home care, pulmonary rehabilitation, special procedures, and airway management.
Students who successfully complete the Respiratory Examination Review receive a certificate of completion from Brightwood College. This short course is intended to prepare students for an industry-recognized exam; the course itself does not certify a student. Students who go on to take the exam and pass may benefit from increased career opportunities in the respiratory therapy field, as certain positions require licensure.
Note: This is a non-credit-bearing course. Students must not assume that this course will be accepted for transfer credit at another institution. This course does not qualify for Title IV federal financial aid funds. The institution does not offer job placement assistance for short courses, finding a job is the individual responsibility of the student.
