History of Brightwood College, Vista Campus
Brightwood College, Vista campus, formerly Maric College and then Kaplan College, was founded as Maric College of Medical Careers to provide quality education in response to the needs of those aspiring toward medical careers and to meet employment demands in allied health occupations.
The original location opened in San Diego in 1976 and expanded in September 1984 to the San Marcos campus, which later moved to Vista. In April 1988, the original Vista campus was established and relocated to the current Vista campus location, also known as the North County location, in July 1997. In March 1999, Maric College of Medical Careers changed its name to Maric College and became Kaplan College in August 2008. In February 2016, the school became Brightwood College.
The Vista campus of Brightwood College is set in a beautifully landscaped hilltop setting in the expanding Vista area.
Located just seven miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in northern Vista, the city of Vista has a perfect mild Mediterranean climate. The city’s 94,500 residents enjoy a wide range of year-round outdoor activities in the area's gently rolling hills and pleasant rural surroundings. Vista boasts six times the national average number of parks within its 18 square mile border.
